Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have “respectfully agreed terms” to settle their divorce amicably within weeks.
According to editors at British newspaper The Sun, the Salt star, who originally filed for sole custody of the former couple’s six children, has since decided to allow Brad to have access to them. And she has been in discussions with her ex concerning the logistics of childcare while they both work and travel.
The agreement is expected to be filed imminently after the pair received court approval to continue their negotiations in February.
“The terms of the divorce are now agreed,” a source close to Angelina told the news outlet. “They are being finalised by both legal teams, but will be filed within weeks.”
Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016, amid an accusation that the Fury actor was involved in a physical altercation on a plane with their son Maddox, 16.
After Brad was cleared of wrongdoing by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), he was later granted visitation rights to Maddox, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 11, and twins Vivienne and Knox, nine.
In a big turnaround, the pair are reportedly now on good terms, and determined to ensure that going forward they maintain a “respectful relationship” for the sake of the children.
“The key thing is that they agree to custody sharing, with Brad having access and working with Angelina on logistic issues about work and travel,” the source continued. “There were rumours the divorce was being called off, but that’s not the case.”
The actress and filmmaker recently took a year off from work to focus on the needs of her young family.
“Everything was just stopped,” she explained to People magazine in September. “I’m really sitting and talking with them because everything affects them. Every location, every type of project, I’m going to have to adjust it to however much they can handle.”
