ITSAZOO presents WET – May 8—27, 2018
Sunday, May 27 08:00 PM
ITSAZOO presents the Western Canadian premiere of David James Brock’s award-winning drama, WET, at the Russian Hall from May 8—27, 2018. Set during the height of Canada’s involvement in the Afghanistan War, this raw and immersive play examines love, abandonment, and the dire cost of combat. Directed by Chelsea Haberlin, the story follows a Canadian soldier who returns home to her husband and young daughter. She finds herself abandoned by the country she served, in a near-catatonic state, trapped in a basement suite with her unemployed and intimacy-starved husband. Tension escalates when a former war comrade shows up unwelcomed and unhinged. Staged in an immersive environment in the basement of the Russian Hall, WET is a provocative examination of poverty, mental illness, and the military industrial complex.
WARNING: Contains Nudity, Sexuality, Coarse Language, Violence, Mature Subject Matter. Not recommended for audiences under 18 years of age. Some audience members may find the intimate and immersive setting claustrophobic.
