Emilio Estevez has signed on to reprise his role in family film classic The Mighty Ducks for a TV revamp.

The actor will suit up as kids ice hockey coach Gordon Bombay for the new Disney+ streaming series, which he will also executive produce.

“Once a Duck, always a Duck!, and after 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise,” Emilio told Deadline in a statement. “Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney+.”

Brill has created the new TV scripts with Till Death creators Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa.

The 10-episode series has a whole new set of hockey players on the team too, including Swayam Bhatia, Taegen Burns, Julee Cerda, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins and De’Jon Watts.

Actress Lauren Graham has also joined the cast of the show, which is set in modern-day Minnesota.

The Mighty Ducks TV series is expected to be available to stream later this year.
