Chris Stapleton has been in the studio with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and teased new music is "probably" on its way.
The country music star opened for the rockers at Chicago's Wrigley Field in 2017, and will reconnect with Campbell when he returns to the venue with the rocker's new band the Dirty Knobs this summer.
Stapleton sings on the Dirty Knobs' debut album, Wreckless Abandon, out 20 March, and told Rolling Stone he's been writing new tunes with Campbell at the guitarist's Los Angeles home studio.
"He's probably my favorite guitar player of all time. To sit around with him and write some songs has been cool," he said. "We did some last year too. I don't want to make any promises, but there is probably some new music on the way."
The new music will the the singer's first since his 2017 releases, From A Room: Volume 1 and the subsequent Volume 2.
