Kim Kardashian "cried the whole way home" when online trolls attacked her over the Givenchy floral maternity gown at her very first Met Gala back in 2013.

The reality TV star has donned a number of iconic looks to the annual fashion bash in New York, but it was her first-ever appearance at the big night that left her in tears.

The punk-themed festivities were held a month before the arrival of the first of Kim and husband Kanye West's four children, daughter North, six, and mean-spirited fans took to social media to mock the star over her baby bump and choice of floral dress.

"I was crying, like, the whole way home because I just couldn't believe it. There were all these memes about me and this couch,' Kim recalled in a video for Vogue. "I think Robin Williams even tweeted it, said I looked like Mrs. Doubtfire. It was like this whole thing, so I just cried."

Fans also compared the star to Homer Simpson, but she recalled already feeling nervous about the event because of her size.

"I was very pregnant, very puffy, and bloated and I was like, 'Oh god, of course the first time I go I'm gonna be huge," the KKW Beauty mogul said. "Kanye was performing so I wasn't actually invited. I was just Kanye's plus one. And that was okay with me because I never really dreamed I would be at the Met Ball. I know no one really probably wanted me there at the time."

However, looking back Kim confessed she "loves" the ensemble – calling it "sick" and ahead of its time.

"I just remember (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) came up to me and loved my outfit and my gloves," she beamed. "So none of the critics mattered because the Olsen twins approved."
