YouTube star Emily Hartridge has died aged 35, following a traffic collision.

The British social media personality died on Friday, after a crash involving her electric scooter and a truck.

The news of her tragic death was shared in a post to her fans on her Instagram page on Saturday.

"This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once," the statement read. "Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten.

"She has touched so many lives it's hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person."

The London Metropolitan Police later released a statement asking for information or witnesses of the incident "of an electric scooter being in collision with a (truck)".

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. A woman in her 30s had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," the statement read. No arrests have been made as yet.

While the police statement didn't identify Hartridge due to the family's wishes, editors at Britain's The Guardian newspaper later confirmed the news.

The tragic incident is believed to be the first fatal collision involving an electric scooter in the U.K.
