Zac Efron is "feeling fresh" and on the road to recovery following his snowboarding accident.

The Greatest Showman star, 31, took to Instagram and shared a sultry black-and-white selfie snapped in a barber's chair as a hairstylist took an electric trimmer to his beard.

"Feeling fresh!" Zac wrote. "Everyday a step forward post surgery."

The Hollywood heartthrob was hospitalized earlier this month and underwent major surgery on his knee after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) during a snowboarding accident.

"I tore my ACL shredding the gnar but all is good (sic)," he wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of himself in a hospital bed wearing a brace. "I opted for surgery, so I can come back stronger than ever.

"Thank you to Dr. Kvitne and his team at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center. I'll keep you updated as I heal and progress! Thanks for all the love and positivity!"

The Baywatch star is fully focused on his rehabilitation following the accident, and has been sharing snaps from his intensive physical therapy regime, as he tries to fully recover the use of his knee.

Sharing a close-up photo of his braced knee and bandaged surgical scar, he wrote, "Getting stronger every day", before sharing a video on his Instagram Story of him squatting on one leg while keeping his injured leg raised completely straight in front of him.

Despite his accident, Zac still has a sweet sense of humor, and on Valentine's Day, sent a red rose to all of his 38 million followers.

"Happy Valentine's Day! I love you all," he wrote alongside the snap on Instagram.
