Nicole Kidman is taking a break from acting for three months so she can join her husband Keith Urban on his world tour.

The Moulin Rouge! actress has revealed that she is taking three months out after working non-stop on films such as Destroyer, Boy Erased, Aquaman and The Upside.

She told Baz Bamigboye from Britain's Daily Mail at the W Magazine Best Performances party in Los Angeles that she was having a brief hiatus so she can be a "rock wife" and travel with her country musician husband as he tours Australia and Europe from the end of January to the middle of March.

"That's how it works with us. Keith supports me with my films and television, and I support him with his music," she said, explaining that she will break away for the occasional film-related event "but for the most part I'll be on the road with Keith around Australia and Europe."

Among upcoming film events, the Australian actress is likely to attend the AARP Movies for Grown-Ups Awards ceremony in February as she is nominated for both Best Actress for Destroyer and Best Supporting Actress for Boy Erased. She may also attend the Oscars if she receives a nomination later this month.

Keith's tour kicks off in Newcastle, Australia on 23 January before moving to Europe in March. After a break, he will continue with the tour in June in North America, where he, Nicole and their two daughters Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith, eight, live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Before her break, the 51-year-old completed work on season two of Big Little Lies, the film adaptation of Donna Tartt's book The Goldfinch, and the Untitled Roger Ailes Project, in which she plays journalist Gretchen Carlson. Afterwards, she is scheduled to begin work on TV shows The Undoing and The Expatriates.
