Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has had an operation as part of her ongoing battle with oesophagus problems.

The British singer revealed she had undergone surgery by posting an image to Instagram on Thursday night showing her sat at a table in a restaurant with an empty dessert bowl in front of her. In the snap, the make-up free star, who is wearing a pink hoodie, rests her head on her hands, putting the hospital bracelet around her wrist and plaster on the back of her hand on full display.

"Only I would have an operation then ask to be taken to the ivy for my favourite chocolate bomb dessert!" she wrote in the caption. "My oesophagus can't come between me and my love of food (crying with laughter) What doesn't kill you makes you stronger (flexing bicep emoji)."

The 25-year-old later shared two videos on her Instagram Stories of her mother snoring while she was sleeping and wrote, "My mam wanting to 'keep an eye on me' and 'make sure I'm okay tonight'.. bless her. She's had a long day. I swear if she doesn't stop snoring ama have to start swinging (sic). I love her."

She added that she was being kept awake by the snoring so she had to give her mum "a nudge".

Perrie didn't reveal exactly where or why the operation took place, but she has previously revealed that the large vertical scar on her stomach is from surgery related to her oesophagus issues.

"When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly," she told Now magazine. "I had to have lots of operations, so that's why I don't want to show it."

She has since had a change of heart and proudly showed off her scar with a topless snap, in which she covered her breasts with her long hair and shells, in June.
