Evangeline Lilly has recalled how she felt "cornered" into participating in nude scenes on TV drama Lost.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp star was the lead actress in the groundbreaking TV series, which followed the survivors of a plane crash marooned on a mysterious tropical island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean.

And the survivor-turned-Marvel heroine candidly recalled working on the show in an appearance on podcast The Lost Boys, and why after a couple of incidents she refused to film any more nude scenes for the ABC drama, which premiered in 2004.

"In season 3, I'd had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter," recalled Evangeline. "And I was mortified and I was trembling and when it finished, I was crying my eyes out and I had to go on do a very formidable, very strong scene thereafter."

The show, which was helmed by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who served as showrunners and head writers, ran for six seasons, and Evangeline, who played Kate, found the issue reared its head again in the fourth series.

"In season 4, another scene came up where Kate was undressing and I fought very hard to have that scene be under my control and I failed to control it again," she sighed. "And so I then said, "That's it, no more. You can write whatever you want – I won't do it. I will never take my clothes off on this show again.' and I didn't."

The actress also recalled butting heads with the writers and producers over Kate's motivations and actions, and she admitted she became "frustrated" that her character's storyline was reduced to chasing her love interests Jack (Matthew Fox) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) around the island.

"I wanted her to be better, because she was an icon for strength and autonomy for women, and I thought we could have done better than that," she said.
