Actress Anna Faris initially felt a tinge of "anger" towards social media followers for their exaggerated reactions to her split from estranged husband Chris Pratt.
The couple separated in August after eight years of marriage, and identical divorce papers were filed in December, with both citing irreconcilable differences.
Anna and Guardians of the Galaxy hunk Chris have remained close following their split as they continue to co-parent their five-year-old son Jack, but the Scary Movie star admits she was slightly annoyed at how some people mourned their break-up and dramatically proclaimed "love is dead", after holding the pair up as an example of the perfect couple.
"Chris and I did talk about, like, 'Oh boy… (we're letting fans down)', and we got on the Twitter feed (messages like), 'Love is dead' and 'relationship goals…'," she recalled on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.
Anna decided to "just be silent" on social medial until the shock of their split news blew over, but she admits some tweets did get on her nerves.
"I had a little bit of a childish feeling like, 'Oh, come on, f**king grow up,' like, a little anger," she confessed.
However, the 41-year-old soon learned to accept that they were partly to blame for having "cultivated the idea of… this beautiful family" with their previous social media photos, and at the time, the fan admiration for the actors as a couple gave Anna an ego boost.
"I do think, we obviously cultivated something (the idea of a perfect relationship), and it was rewarding for a while, like, 'Oh, people seem to think that we got all this s**t (sorted), that's nice!'," she shared.
Despite their impending divorce, Anna is thankful that her relationship with Chris has evolved into a strong friendship, unlike her divorce from her first husband, Ben Indra.
"We (her and Chris) had an unbelievable marriage, and we have a great friendship now, we love our son to death, and I'm really proud of that, because I'm not sure I did that well the first time," Anna said.
She has since found love again with cinematographer Michael Bennett, who she has been linked to since October, but Anna isn't sure she would be willing to walk down the aisle for a third time.
"I need to figure out what the purpose (of marriage) is," she explained. "Is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more?
"For me, I'm just not quite sure where it fits."
